Mention Kopaonik and most people think of skiing — but outside winter the mountain has a completely different character: quiet, green, with trails used by hikers and cyclists instead of skiers.
Pančić's Peak. The mountain's highest point (2,017 m) is reachable by cable car almost to the summit, with a short walk from there to the Josif Pančić monument and a viewpoint over several mountain ranges.
Kopaonik National Park. The mountain is a protected area with rich flora — in July and August the meadows are covered in endemic wildflowers, and marked trails range from easy to demanding multi-hour routes.
Fewer crowds, lower prices. Unlike winter, when accommodation books out months ahead, summer availability is far easier to find and cheaper — a good opportunity for a quieter nature break without the winter rush.
Cycling. Some of the ski runs turn into bike trails in summer, with bike rental available in the centre.
If you're planning a summer stay, browse accommodation on Kopaonik — the same spot that's in demand for skiing in winter makes a great hiking base in summer.
