Kopaonik is Serbia's largest ski resort, with over 60 km of pistes inside Kopaonik National Park — which also makes it the most in-demand winter destination, with the best accommodation booked out months ahead.
When the season starts. Depending on snowfall, the slopes typically open mid-December and run through late March or early April. Early December and March offer the best prices, while the holidays and February are the absolute peak.
Why book early. For New Year and the February school break, apartments close to the lifts and slopes are gone by November. If a specific location matters to you — say, close to Sunčana Dolina or Mali Karaman — don't leave it to the last minute.
How to choose where to stay. The first thing to check is distance from the nearest lift or piste — on Kopaonik that's what really determines how much time you lose each morning hauling gear. The second is parking, since the centre gets congested in peak season.
Outside ski season. A lesser-known fact — Kopaonik is also great in summer, when the mountain is far quieter, temperatures are pleasant, and the hiking and biking trails are open at noticeably lower accommodation prices.
