The Uvac river canyon, with its horseshoe-shaped meanders and griffon vulture colony, is one of Serbia's most photographed natural landscapes — and still one of the less crowded compared to more popular destinations.
Getting there. The viewpoints are near Sjenica and Nova Varoš, about three and a half hours' drive from Belgrade. Your own transport is practically essential — public transport doesn't reach the viewpoints themselves.
When to photograph. Early morning, especially when fog sits in the valley while the viewpoints stay above it, produces the canyon's most iconic shots. Autumn and spring are the most reliable seasons for that fog-and-sun combination.
Which viewpoint to pick. The best-known and easiest to reach is Molitva viewpoint, with the classic view over the largest meander. For fewer crowds, nearby viewpoints a bit further from the parking area offer a similar view with a quieter experience.
Where to stay. Sjenica is the most practical base — the viewpoints are 30 to 45 minutes away, with a chance to try local cheese and lamb. If you're also planning to visit Zlatibor or Zlatar on the same trip, Zlatibor is an alternative with a slightly longer drive to the canyon.
